Biography

Raya is singer/songwriter Suzanne Rayappan, former professional athlete and member of the England badminton team.

She was born and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire developing her sporting prowess from the age of 9 and after completing her education was invited to train as a member of the national badminton team in Milton Keynes.

Raya was preparing for the Commonwealth and Olympic Games when she picked up an injury and under examination it was revealed she had developed arthritis in her hip. She was forced to retire from professional play and what followed was over a year of operations, intense rehab and recovery.

Always being a performer at heart, Raya sang at major championships whilst she was a player but after her career ended she could fully concentrate her efforts into singing and songwriting.

Currently Raya is working with super producer Matt Foster (credits include Wretch 32, Giggs, M.I.A, Wiley and Pixie Lott) and Rymez (Tinie Tempah, G-Unit, Wiley) to complete her debut album.
